Is your Computer starting to act differently that sometimes it refuses to turn on? Or your Computer looks completely dead.? If you are experiencing this kind of Computer problems, all you need is just some troubleshooting techniques to try and free all your
Computer worries and headache.
Just follow the steps below to hopefully bring your Computer back to life.
The first thing you should do is check the power supply just to be sure that there is power available for your computer. Make sure the power switch is turned on and then try to plug a lamp in the wall socket to see if it works. If it does, you know there is power available. Once you know there is power, check to make sure the power cord is properly connected to the wall outlet and the computer power socket.
Note: Before you continue on to the next step, make sure your computer is completely shut down and be sure to disconnect it from the power cord as well. Also, keep in mind that all of your PC’s components are sensitive to static electric charges, so it’s important to ground yourself by touching the frame of your computer’s case before starting any of the troubleshooting processes. This will get your body used to the computer case and eliminate any chance of static shock.
The next thing you can troubleshoot is if all of the cards within your computer are fully pushed in to their slots. Open your computer’s system unit and push down on all the chips, the video card, the sound card, the modem or LAN cards, the memory cards and the CPU units to make sure everything is seated properly.
Now, check your computer again to see if you have been able to fix the problem. If not, keep troubleshooting! Next, check the power between the power supply you use and the motherboard on the back of your computer. If you need to, pull out and reinsert all of the cards. You can also try placing them in different slots until you find a perfect fit for all of them.
If you have not been able to resolve the issue, the next thing you can do is take out all non-essential parts from your computer, leaving only the basic ones in. The basic parts are the motherboard, the power supply, the display card, the controller and the hard drive. You can pull out everything else (mainly the other cards) by removing the screws from your unit, as shown in the screenshot below.
Now, replace each part that you took out one at a time until the problem reoccurs. When you replace a part and the computer stops working, you know that particular part is the reason for your computer problems. If this is the case, that part can just be replaced and your computer should then operate normally.
If you still see some issues, remove all of the remaining cards, including the display card and floppy controller. Then turn on the power just to see if the power supply is still running. If it does run, one of the cards you just removed is faulty. You will then need to get that one replaced.
These are just some simple techniques you can try to get your computer up and running again. Please use extreme caution when removing certain parts of your computer. If you are not completely sure on how to do it, get some help or take your computer to a repair shop so a professional can look at it. You do not want to risk creating other problems for your computer by doing an incorrect job.
Computer Repair Service Shop are charging so high nowadays. Some are charging 50 to 60 dollars per hour. So it’s really a must to learn some Basic Computer Troubleshooting Techniques. Visit my website;

Computer furniture – what you have at our computer workstation -can if correctly selected and set up, help you avoid painful musculoskeletal disorders (MSD), and stay healthier and fitter at your PC.
It’s not hard to do especially when you consider that a bad computer furniture arrangement will, even in the short term:
create and maintain a distorted or unhealthy posture while using the computer.
give you inadequate lower back support, creating aches and pains later.
force you into staying in one position too long, which would be another recipe for strain and muscular tension.
make you stretch bend and twist unecessarily.
So what features should your screen, desk, keyboard, mouse and chair have to keep you feeling good?
Your monitor should:
swivel, tilt and elevate. Fit an extra adjustable stand to adjust the height if need be. Or replace it.
be positioned so the top line of the monitor is not higher than your eyes or not lower than 20° below the horizon of your eyes or field of vision
be at the same level and near the document holder (if you use one).
be between 20 to 25 inches (50-56 cm) away from your face
Your keyboard should :
be detachable and adjustable (with legs to adjust the angle).
allow your forearms to be parallel to the floor without having to raise your elbows.
allow your wrists to be in line with your forearms so your wrists don’t have to be flexed up or down.
include enough space to rest your rists or should include a padded detachable wrist rest (or you can use a separate gel wrist rest which should be at least 2 inches (50 mm) deep.
be placed directly in front of the monitor and at the same height as the mouse, track ball, touch pad, or any other pointing device.
The mouse or pointer device should :
be close to the keyboard.
allow you, (if possible), to use both left and right hands while handling the pointer/mouse.
Your computer chair should :
support your back, and have a vertically adjustable independent back rest that returns to its original position, plus tilt adjustment to support your lower back.
allow you to adjust its height while seated.
be adjusted so the back crease of the knee is slightly higher than the pan of the chair (use a suitable footrest, if required).
be supported by a five prong caster base.
have removable and adjustable armrests, if possible.- have a contoured seat with breathable fabric and rounded edges to distribute the weight, and be adjustable to allow the seat pan to tilt forward or back.
The table/desk should :
provide ample leg room and be height adjustable (preferably).
have enough room to support the computer equipment plus space for documents.
be at least 36 inches (90 cm) deep.
have rounded blunt and undamaged corners and edges
This covers the basics of good computer furniture setup, but you can improve your protection by taking further standard precautions:
Ensure each user maintains their own set up.
Taking regular breaks from working at your computer for a few minutes, at least once an hour.
Alternating work tasks by mixing computer tasks with non computer tasks to reduce strain.
Learning and carrying out keyboard shortcuts to reduce mouse usage.
Carrying out regular gentle stretching to relax your body.
Using health support equipment such as footrests, wrist/palm rests, and document holders if required
Adopting a NEUTRAL BODY POSTURE, with hands, wrists, and forearms inline, straight, and almost parallel to the floor, body facing forward, shoulders relaxed, elbows close to body and bent approximately at right angles.
If you organise and maintain a good PC furniture set up, you’ll be well on track for fit and healthy computing through 2006 and beyond!

Most of us encounter problems with our computer freezing or suffering from slow performance and it drives you crazy when it keeps on freezing and pausing while you are using it. When you are typing and then suddenly the cursor stops and you think it’s your keyboard not working and then it suddenly starts working again after a few seconds.
As your frustration increases you end up restarting windows or to switch your computer off completely, only to find the problem occurs again an hour later and you need to fix your slow computer.
These issues are so critical and need to be fixed for these reasons.
o Not enough memory. Too many are programs installed eating away at your PC memory.
o There are registry errors or some registry entries are corrupted and if they worsen windows will fail to start.
You need to do the following to fix these errors and fix your slow computer.
o Increase the size if your virtual memory. This will help you until you get to the step below. The virtual memory is space on your hard disk drive that your PC uses to swap programs and files in and out of memory and if your PC is low on memory it is important this is the correct size.
Go to the windows start menu on there you will see my computer. Right click on this with the mouse. Click on properties. Click on the advanced tab, then the settings buttons, under where it says performance and then On the advanced tab, under virtual memory, click Change.
Under drive click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change. Usually there is only one drive then under paging file size for selected drive, click to Custom size check box.
You can enter the amount of space you would like to reserve for virtual memory by entering the initial and maximum size.
Set both to 1.5 times the amount of memory in your computer, then click Set and restart your PC.
o Run a free registry scan. This will find any registry errors and help you to repair them in minutes. Registry errors will slow windows down, make it slow to start up and even prevent your computer from, shutting down.
These steps will improve your computer performance and prevent your PC from crashing and freezing again and make it run like when it was new.

1. Safety First!! – Protect your computer from viruses and spyware.
Many PCs will come with a free trial version of an Anti-Virus Software. However, once this trial expires, what should a basic home user do?
It is very common for people to either choose to go without Anti-Virus, or to pay for a subscription to Norton. However, Norton produces annoying pop-ups and warnings, and also takes up so much of a computer’s RAM that it will actually slow down the PC’s performance.
I recommend AVG’s Anti-virus. It is a free program that provides very sufficient protection for your computer. It can be downloaded here. AVG should be updated and a scan should be performed AT LEAST once a week.
Additionally, you must protect your computer from spyware. According to Microsoft, “Spyware is a general term used to describe software that performs certain behaviors such as advertising, collecting personal information, or changing the configuration of your computer, generally without appropriately obtaining your consent first.” It can be very harmful and is commonly overlooked when basic users are protecting their PC.
A very useful program to sweep your system of spyware is Spybot Search & Destroy. It is also a free program and can be downloaded here. It should be updated and a scan should be performed once every couple of weeks.
2. Don’t make your hard drive work too hard.
Like any car or home appliance, a computer’s hard drive will suffer from “wear and tear.” You can usually expect a hard drive to last 4-5 years but that can be greatly increased by giving your hard drive the occasional tune up.
The first step of doing this is running the Windows Disk Cleanup Tool. This is done by clicking Start –> All Programs –> Accessories –> System Tools –> Disk Cleanup. It will scan your computer, and provide you with a list of files you can choose to remove. This will remove any files on your computer that may not be needed and are simply taking up space. Disk Cleanup should be performed approximately once a month for the average user.
Next, you should run the Disk Defragmenter. The hard drive can become fragmented with a greater frequency of new software installations, internet downloads of movies or music, or simple creation of files. Fragmenting of a hard drive occurs because all files are stored in sectors and when a file is opened a needle has to find all parts of that file on the hard drive. When a file is created it won’t be one large package, but many small packages that make up the whole. When these packages are stored, they will be placed in the first open area on the hard drive. If a hard drive is fragmented, the packages will not be placed together and will force the drive to work harder to build the file. This can decrease both the lifespan of the drive and the speed of your computer.
Defragmenting simply places all of the files in a position that relieves the stress on a hard drive. It can be done by clicking Start –> All Programs –> Accessories –> System Tools –> Disk Defragmenter. You can then click analyze in Windows XP and it will give you a response on whether or not you should defragment. Windows Vista now allows you to schedule how often you would like to defragment. This should be done AT LEAST quarterly for an average user but might need to be done more often for some.
3. UPDATE!!
Windows allows a user to permit automatic updates, so take advantage of it. This can be done by clicking Start –> All Programs –> Windows Update. It should be set to automatic so that you can be as up to date as possible on the built in security measures that windows has already installed.
It is also a good idea to check on updates for any programs that you have installed. This is not necessarily needed but is recommended to get the most out of your programs. It can usually be done by opening the program and then looking for “Update” in the Help Menu.
4. Do Some Spring Cleaning
All computers have fans that encourage air flow through the tower to ensure that the processor runs at a cooler temperature. Dust and pet hair can clog these vents and overheat your processor. This must be cleaned to prevent a very expensive repair. Every computer technician has a story about a computer that they opened up and everything was caked in dust. Don’t let this be you. It may be intimidating to some to open up the computer’s case, but it is quite simple.

A Windows operated computer which has been used for some time will begin to run slowly, freeze often and occasionally crash. This is inevitable in all Windows PCs. The reason is nearly always that the registry has become choked with unwanted data fragments.
The registry is a database which the operating system uses to run the computer and programs. It is essential to the health of the computer that the registry should be kept in good working condition. The registry is one of the most important features of your computer. Without it your computer and programs cannot work.
The registry is always busy and in constant use when the computer is running. To keep the registry in good condition all unecessary files and data fragments must be deleted regularly. The best way to do this is to use registry cleaner software which can be downloaded from the internet. If you do not maintain your computer in this way it will become slower and more balky as time goes by.
It is important to pick the best registry repair software whiuch is available. A number of applications are available and some are better than others needless to say.
Good software will first backup your registry so that it can be restored should something go wrong in the cleanup. This is very important. The software must also be able to distinguish which files are used by the system and cannot be removed. To remove some essential entries may completely disable the computer and render it inoperable. The software will remove only files which are uneccessary to the operation of the machine.
A good registry repair application will be installed on your hard drive and used on a regular basis to maintain your registry. You can schedule its use for specific times if you so desire. Using a registry repair application regularly in this fashion is absolutely the best way to keep your computer in good running order. Without it’s use you will experience slow running, freezing and the occasional crash. This is due to the operating system having to slowly navigate it’s way through the choked registry to locate the data it needs to run the computer.
We purchased and tested several of the most popular registry repair applications to see which of them did the best job of cleaning the registry. In order to obtain comparable results we ran a registry scan with each of the applications without starting the repair process. We found marked differences in the number of errors which the different applications could detect.
The best application could detect as many as fifty percent more errors than some of the others. Needless to say this is the program that we have installed in our own computers to maintain them regularly.
It is possible to edit your registry manually. You can use the Regedit function which is installed on all windows PCs to do this. You simply go into the registry, pick the items you want to remove and delete them.
Really simple! But wait a minute is it that simple? The answer is yes and no. Yes if you are very knowledgeable about the registry and which data entries must not be removed. No if you know very little about this. If you happen to remove an essential entry you could disable the computer completely. This is not a risk worth taking in order to save the very reasonable price of the repair software.
The registry cleaner application will offer you a free scan to determine what problems you may have in your registry. It will report to you the errors found. You can look at this report and decide what you would like to do.
We would recommend using the repair part of the application to clean your registry quickly and safely. Your machine will then once more be the sweet running fast machine it was in days past before the registry became choked.

Let’s see if I can name your problem: sluggish, slow, locking up, freezing, blue screens, restarting for no reason, mouse just moving on it’s own, you out typing the computer (and you type with only 2 fingers), and programs just experiencing the “serious error” and wants to report it to Microsoft. Any of those sound vaguely familiar? I know they do to me, and I have experienced them all, and have fixed them all. So, let’s see how we go about troubleshooting a computer problem.
Speed Up Your PC

First, did you just install, update, or upgrade something? If you did, that is the problem. You will need to restart your computer and uninstall, or roll back the driver for your component. If your computer will not start up normally, then you need to start it up in safe mode. To do this, press one of the “F” keys when it is starting up. This key varies for the different machines out there. Then tell the system to start up in safe mode. You can then uninstall the software or drivers you just installed, and start back up in normal. That will take care of the problem.
If you did not install anything, the first thing I would do is to fix my registry files. These little files tell the computer what to do with the programs installed on your computer. They tell how the program should operate. If any of these get messed up, corrupted, or even deleted, it can cause some serious headaches for you, the computer owner.

Do not try to fix this yourself. Download a registry repair software, and run a scan of your computer to see if you have any errors. If you do, the software will tell you what the errors are, and will then fix them for you. This can actually be done in les than 15 minutes. I will guarantee you have errors on your computer. Once you have these fixed, you should really be running well again.
Spyware can slow a machine, and viruses can cause crashed, but I am assuming you at least have a virus scan on your computer. But, most of us don’t do anything with the registry files. And most likely have never even heard of them. So, the above 2 tips should get you on your way to troubleshooting a computer problem.
