What makes a given system great is all that it can do, and what a system can do is dependent upon the programs that it is compatible with.  To be frank, Vista is simply capable of running a greater number of programs compared to Mac products, and this counts games as well.

Safety

Included in those programs mentioned above, this includes software that is going to keep your data save.  Due to all those anti-virus programs, Vista is just better.

Cost

The price, even of a refurbished Mac, is going to cost you a grand, and that is just a basic set up.  Vista can run on cheaper machines.  This kind of cost effectiveness is something to consider when you are looking into hard ware for your office, at home or otherwise.

Ease of Construction

It is so easy to build a computer these days.  Pretty much, all you do is buy the parts and put them together like a puzzle.  But then you fire it up and load the system, to find that you can’t just pop the Mac OS disc in and let it run.  With Windows products you can, making building and maintaining your own system that much easier.

The Company Head

When it comes to who runs the companies, Bill Gates give so much back to the community that Steve Jobs just looks like a money grubbing stick figure.  While Gates surely has his hand involved with many projects, Jobs will be the flashy advertiser, sending lawyers after folks that provide insider information that makes his company look shady.  There are blogs and information out there trying to say that Vista is a messed up program, but it is likely that you are reading this from within the Vista framework.

Basically, information needs to be checked before making these sorts of decisions.  Depending on what you need a machine to will dictate what kind of machine you get in the end.  If you want something that is compatible with a greater number of programs, is something that you can easily learn to work on, on your own, comes packaged cost effectively, and provides a great range of safety products when it comes to web browsing, then a Microsoft product is what you are looking for.  While Mac products certainly have their plusses as well, consider the above points before going out and coughing up your hard earned cash.
